Watchtowers Moreau - one of the main historical attractions of the town in the province of Iloilo Ghimbav on the island of Panay. Sometime along the coastline towered five fortified towers, designed to warn local residents of the approach of the militant Moro pirates. On the restoration of the remaining two is not enough money.

These towers were built in the 17th century. Then on these shores often attacked by pirates from the tribe of "Moro", which destroyed villages and drove the local population into slavery, and then sold on the island of Mindanao. That's when residents Ghimbav and decided to somehow resist the raids - so beautiful along the southern shore of the sea in different locations have been installed watchtowers. Today, they can even see ancient drums in which the guards began to beat, when they noticed the approach of enemies. And the towers have become a symbol of courage and heroism residents Ghimbav.

Local people call these fortifications "Bantayan", which means "to guard." Now, next to one of the watchtowers is a cozy resort with the same name - «Bantayan Beach Resort».
