Novalja - one of the fastest growing tourist centers on the Croatian Adriatic. It is the town of the island of Pag in the northern part. The most famous of this city became due Zrce beach, which is popular among Europeans gathering place during the summer months famous DJs and club music enthusiasts.

Novalja historically passed through the same stages of the path that many other Croatian towns - the first settlements of Illyrian, Roman rule, the arrival of the Croats in the 7th century during the great migration of peoples, the administration of the Republic of Venice. Each of these milestones will leave their mark. Today you can see the ruins of the ancient walls, the necropolis of the Late, ranneromanskoy Church of the Holy Cross.

But the most famous and important landmark of the city and the whole island is a Roman aqueduct - Channel Tunnel was built in the 1st century AD .  The tunnel length is preserved a little more than a thousand meters, carved hardwood .  Construction of the facilities was quite difficult due to the strategic location of this place .  Novalja, had not yet bearing the name, was an important port on the way from the southern Adriatic to the ancient city of Aquileia (now - Trieste) .  The value of the port grew in the harbor village appeared to have been built three churches, which could serve the residents, and coming sailors, and passengers .  This port is decided by the Romans, is to get water .  An example of the remains of Roman aqueduct - evidence of development of engineering at the time .  In some places where the rocks were cracked, the builders used the bricks .  Modern researchers have discovered them stamped Roman brick workshop "Afaesoniya" .

Aqueduct was sealed a long time, but in the first half of the 19th century, the child accidentally fell into an underground channel opened. In the early 20th century, we decided to use the tunnel of the Austro-Hungarian authorities, the system has been partially restored, but the windmill, from which the pump is running, has been destroyed. Repeated attempts took place in 1929, then worked as a pump on the motor, but it failed. In 1947, the last time water tried to put into operation. Today, the archaeological site organized by the museum in the basement which is the entrance to the tunnel.

The natural beauty of these places, beautiful beaches, mild climate, a rapidly developing infrastructure, a rich historical and cultural heritage attracts many tourists.
