Seminary Palace, located behind the Cathedral, was built by the architect Carlo Martinutstsi beginning of the XVIII century. The building boasts an ornate entrance portal, which in 1714 was carved in the workshop stonemason Luka Misleya. On each side of the portal are statues of Hercules works Angelo Putti. In XVIII-XIX centuries the palace was added a few extensions.
The palace is located two-storey seminary seminary library, the first public library in Ljubljana, founded in 1701 on the initiative of members of the Academy. As public for 50 years, the library was then handed over to the theologians. On the ceiling, painted by Giulio Kallio in 1721, and this oak furniture made cabinetmaker Josip Verganti, Seminary Library is one of the most beautiful baroque monuments in Slovenia. The library holds many valuable manuscripts and printed works.
