History of foundation of the town Uherský Brod is very interesting. The town, which is now home to about 17,000 residents, there was next to the fortress, which was founded as a reference point on the most important crossing to Hungary at the river Olshave. In the fortress lived officials who collected tribute from all who wish to cross the border of the Czech state. The fortress was built in 1131, and several years later she already appeared around the small village, which turned then to the city of Uherský Brod. The fortress was rebuilt several times, today in its place stands a Renaissance castle, which is not in the best condition.

Uherský Brod was officially recognized as a city in 1272. City law and, therefore, considerable privileges were granted to the Czech ruler Ottokar II. Since then begins a rapid development of the city. By the beginning of the XVI century, we see well equipped, suitable for the happy life of the city. But ahead was the Thirty Years War and the persecution of Protestants, who accounted for most of the inhabitants of this village. As a result of military action Uherský Brod it was almost completely destroyed.

But the city was abandoned for long: here came a large Jewish community, which was gradually assimilated and converted Uherský Brod for themselves.

The main attraction of the city is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which houses the old image of the Black Madonna. Worship him many pilgrims come not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad.

Awesome looks and town hall decorated with high clock tower. City Uherský Brod is also famous for the house-museum of JA Comenius, who was born and raised here.
