Bursa is one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey, and if we consider it on the subject of interesting sights, you should pay attention to the famous Green Mosque. The building was built in the 15th century under Sultan Mehmed I Çelebi and is part of a large complex, which also includes the tomb and madrasa. Work on its construction lasted from 1414 by 1424.

Green Mosque looks like two domed hall interconnected. In the center of the first of them is a marble basin for ablutions, on both sides of which are small rooms. The central hall of the mosque is crowned with several domes that rest on the walls, interconnected in the form of a drum.

Green Mosque is the most exquisitely decorated mosque in the city. Its facade is made of beautiful white marble, and the prayer hall is decorated with a rare green faience. The windows and the portal of the mosque is decorated with carving on marble, which is considered a masterpiece of Ottoman art. All the internal walls are made with the use of exquisite tiles of blue, green, azure, turquoise and blue alternating with white letters Arabic script. It is because of the color of the interior walls and the mosque was named Green. Ali bin Haji Tabrizi - one of the artists involved in finishing the mosque, was a native of Iran, which influenced her style ornament.

Not far from the mosque is another famous monuments of Bursa - Green tomb. It was built for Sultan Mehmed I Çelebi. He died in Edirne, but his remains were exactly forty days was moved to Bursa and was buried in the place which the sultan chose for the construction of his tomb. The interior of the mausoleum and the sarcophagus set in the center of the interior of the tomb, decorated with tiles that are the color and character of the ornament are very similar to ceramic tiles that adorn the Green Mosque. Near the mausoleum is located the burial nurse Sultan, his daughters and one son. From the outside the mausoleum Mehmet Celebi also decorated with bright turquoise ceramic tiles.

Green Mosque is the most valuable historical monument in the city of Bursa, so every year it is visited by a huge number of travelers from around the world. Now the mosque is still carried out restoration work, the completion of which is scheduled for November 2011.
