Cologne City Hall is a building of the city administration and is located near the Cologne Cathedral. The most ancient part of the building dates from the first half of the XIV century. Hall combines several architectural styles. For example, a tower height of 60 meters was completed in the Gothic style, it was a reflection of the main entrance of baroque style, some parts of the building are an imitation of Romanesque architecture.

Town Hall Tower is decorated with statues made of sandstone. Among the images of individuals can find the most honorable residents of the city played an important role in the history of Cologne in different time periods. Due to the fact that the material has been chosen is not particularly strong, then all the statues of kings, nobles, saints suffered greatly. Some of the figures have been re-made and placed on the tower in 1995.

At the end of the XIV century in the City Hall held their meeting representatives of the Hanseatic League, which sought to create a confederation to oppose the Danish King Waldemar IV.

The building of the town hall was reconstructed in 1863 thanks to the efforts of architect Julius Carl Rashdorfa. Unfortunately, his task was not the restoration of the historical appearance of the building, and their own ideas about the future structure. During World War II, the town hall has been hit hard as a result of the bombing destroyed many stone ornaments, sculptures and unique architectural elements. Subsequently, detailed restoration work carried out, thanks to them the town hall acquired its original appearance, and all the restructuring Rashdorfa were completely eliminated.
