Church of St. Jacob and Nicholas - one of the three largest churches in the Chelmno, located in the northwest part of the old town. Construction of the neo-Gothic church began in 1326 after the arrival of the city Franciscan monks in the late thirteenth century and lasted for almost a century.

Gothic building, built of brick, had a special feature: a thin octagonal bell tower height of 54, 5 meters. On the north side to the church of St. James and Nicholas adjoined monastic buildings and a baroque chapel, which was demolished in the nineteenth century, after the dissolution of the monastery in 1806. The rich interior decoration was transported to other churches - in the Warmia and gmina lisewo. In 1822 for six years, the church of St. James and Nicholas was under the care of nurses. Fortunately, it was decided on the need to rebuild the temple. In 1859 the building of the church was opened the church gymnasium, began restoration work in parallel. During this period, it was created: the neo-Gothic choir, the confessional and the altar with stained glass work Wojciech Lazunskogo that were completed in 1867. In addition, during this period it was repaired roof of the church.

Today, the Church of Saints James and Nicholas - an important point of interest Chelmno and one of the symbols of the city.
