Mount Dombay-Ulgen is the highest, majestic and beautiful peaks of the Western Caucasus. The height of the mountain - 4046 m above sea level. Mountain Dombai - the highest point of the Greater Caucasus Dividing Range and is located to the east of the resort village of Dombay on the border of Abkhazia and Karachay-Cherkessia in the headwaters of the river Teberda. The mountain is the highest point of Abkhazia.

The top of the mountain is covered with glaciers and eternal snows, composed of granites, gneisses and schists. In the language of the indigenous inhabitants of the name of the mountain Dombai-Ulgen means "the place where the dead bison." Rocky and powerful array of Dombay-Ulgen consists of three gray tops: Home (4045 m), east (3950 m) and west (4036 m), which draw the silhouette of a large frozen "bison", dying among the dense forests of the Caucasian and cold rocks.

The most picturesque view of Dombay-Ulgen opens with the famous Dombai clearing, located at an altitude of 1650 m above sea level and formed at the intersection of three valleys: Dombai, Alibek, Dombay-Ёlgena and Amanauz.

Throughout the year, thousands of tourists and mountaineers come to admire the beautiful landscapes, among which is the symbol of the Caucasus. Glaciers slopes merging with the blue sky, bright green carpets of alpine meadows, turquoise lakes, rugged waterfalls, clean air and healing narzan sources that heal the body and soul, attracted by its primeval, bewitching anyone who has ever been able to come here.

Around the mountain Dombai-Ulgen, there are many tourist routes. From the main peak to the north runs a steep ridge that goes into the slide titled "Dombai saddle." From the top is the most common way to the top. Conquering the peaks is impossible without a thorough training and a serious approach.
