Monastery of St.. George - the current Orthodox monastery on the Black Sea coast in Pomorie. The exact date when the monastery was founded, archaeologists and historians to call it difficult, but presumably it refers to the beginning of the XIX century.

The emergence of the monastery in the area related to the legend of the miraculous power that helped heal the Turkish Bey - Selim, who lived here in the XVIII century .  According to legend, one of the first employees of Selim had a dream that showed him to the source, heals all illnesses .  Then the workers began to appear in dreams St. George .  Bulgarian could not calm down and once went to the place where a dream discovered the source .  There, he found relief in marble depicting St. .  George, out of which flowed the water - and showed the same miraculous power .  Tell all to his master, he is interested in it .  Selim had drunk water from a source, and then fully healed .  To celebrate, the Turks and his family converted to Christianity .  Subsequently, at the source, it was decided to build a chapel, and then Orthodox monastery .  Selim Bey their lands passed into the possession of the monastery, and he, according to legend, was made as the first abbot .

Among the relics of the monastery, except for the source, it was also: a bas-relief of St. George. That was found on the source, and the miraculous icon of St. George, which is kept in the monastery.

Since 1935, the monastery runs Sliven Archdiocese Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
