Mother Temple of Besakih or Pura Besakih, located in the eponymous village, on the slopes of Mount Agung in eastern Bali.

The temple, built on the mountain, is considered one of the most important, large and sacred temple complexes of Hinduism in Bali. The temple complex consists of many small temples, more precisely - of the 23 facilities. The most important temple in the complex - Pura Agung Penataran, which is dedicated to god Shiva. Entrance to the temple complex is designed as a traditional Balinese "split" gate called Chandi Bentar. After passing the gate, visitors get a beautiful green area, and from there through yet another beautiful gate Kori Agung - the second courtyard. Each temple dedicated to a god, it is visited by the Balinese from certain regions or belonging to a particular caste.
