Kassiopi

Kassiopi - a small resort town located on the northeast coast of Corfu, 36 km from the capital, opposite the coast of Albania. This place is very popular among tourists from the UK and Italy, who are attracted by the crystal clear Ionian sea and excellent beaches. Nearby there is also a lot of beautiful deserted bays.

The ancient village of Kassiopi was founded as early as the 3rd century BC during the reign of Pyrrhus (king of Epirus, a talented military leader) during the war with Rome. It was a typical Greek fishing village and harbor. In 230 BC, the island was conquered by the Romans, who built a fort here. In this fortress, according to local legend, he stopped the Emperor Nero, who came to the temple of Zeus. From Roman structures over time, there's nothing left, and on its foundation Byzantines built their fortifications. Later, the fortress is well strengthened the Venetians in the 16th century and it has successfully survived the siege of the Turkish invaders. Remains of the ancient castle now clearly visible from the coastal road that circles the Cape. After visiting the ancient ruins you can admire the beautiful panoramic views that open from the top of the fortress.

Today, Kassiopi - a picturesque fishing village with a population of about 1,200 people and good infrastructure. There are supermarkets, a post office, a hospital, a bank, a variety of shops and souvenir shops, public swimming pools (including children) and more. In the center of the village next to the school is a great playground.

At the small harbor you can rent a boat and take a short boat trip around the island.

In Kassiopi many cozy cafés, bars and restaurants, a varied menu that will delight visitors. Here you can enjoy Mexican, Chinese, Italian and, of course, the traditional Greek cuisine. A very lively nightlife and Cassiopeia.
