Pre-Columbian archaeological museum Rafael Larco Herrera, founded in 1926, located in the former royal mansion of the XVIII century, built on the foundation of the pyramid of VII century surrounded by a blooming garden. The museum houses one of the richest collections of articles made of gold and silver, a collection of articles made of metal, ceramics and textiles of ancient Peru and the famous erotic archaeological collection.

Pre-Columbian Museum of Archaeology is one of the few museums in the world where visitors can enter the storage area of ​​its 45,000 archaeological artifacts, all cataloged and classified by topic and time. The thematic halls of the museum you can see the carefully planned exhibition of ceramics, learn about the stages of their manufacture in pre-Columbian times, consider the tools, types of kaolin, used for the manufacture and decoration of vases color, tools and molds, unfired pottery found in graves.

In the hall of "Great Culture" Visitors can get a complete picture of the culture of the tribes that existed in pre-Columbian Peru from 7000 BC until the Spanish conquest in the XVI century. This hall is divided into four regions: North Coast, Central, South and the Mountain region.

The "erotic gallery" archaeological items on display prepared by Rafael Larco Hoyle in the 60-ies of XX century in the study of sexual performance in the Peruvian pre-Columbian art. Updated in November 2002, this exhibition of erotic ceramics presented with comments.

In the hall of "Gold and Jewelry" exhibits - the attributes of the leaders and rulers of the Incas that accompanied them during his life and was buried along with the bodies. Ornaments were made not only of gold and silver, and with precious stones - such as lapis lazuli, turquoise, quartz and amethyst. In the stands, you can see the earrings, nose ornaments, pectorals, head ornaments, ritual vases, masks, containers and miniature objects, confirming the high artistic skill of the ancient jewelers.
