Kremsmunster Abbey - Benedictine monastery, situated in the foothills of the Alps in Kremsmünster in Upper Austria. He is one of the oldest monasteries in the Austrian territory.
The monastery was founded in 777 by Tassilo III, Duke of Bavaria. According to legend, Tassilo founded a monastery on the spot where his son was attacked by Gunther boar during a hunt, leaving the young man died.
The first monks came from the monastery of Lower Bavaria, led by their rector Faterikom. The monastery received generous donations of Charlemagne and his successors. In the 10th century the monastery was destroyed during a raid by the Hungarians, and his possessions were divided between the Duke of Bavaria and the other bishops. Restoration began during the reign of Henry II, he became abbot of St. Gotthard.

The most valuable item in the monastery is a bowl Tassilo III. The cup is made of copper and silver gilt, 25 CMB height, weight of 3 kg. It was established in the year 769 in Salzburg or Mondsee. Bowl is still used in religious services on special occasions.
