Fisheries Museum - a branch of the Central Maritime Museum in Gdansk. The museum is located in Hel, the former Evangelical Church of Saints Peter and Paul, built in the fifteenth century.

The first mention of the church dates back to the year 1417. It was the parish church of Hel, which in 1525 was converted into a Protestant church. At the end of the sixteenth century church tower burned down during a severe fire. Later, the church was rebuilt and served as a lighthouse. Gradually, heavy storms and sea waves wash away the slope on which stands the church. In 1861, the front part of the building with the tower broke off and fell into the sea. The reconstruction was carried out after two years.

During World War II, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul Church was badly damaged, restoration work was completed in 1959. However, by this time in Hel eliminated the need for an evangelical church, so the building was adapted for museum purposes. In 1972 it passed into the possession of the National Maritime Museum in Gdansk, after which there was a museum of fishing.

The permanent exhibition tells the history of the Baltic Sea, on the origin and development of fisheries in the Gulf of Gdansk, the history of the Hel Peninsula. In addition, visitors will learn about contemporary issues of marine economy, meet challenges, and various aspects of fisheries. There is an interesting collection of traditional fishing boats.
