The mausoleum was built and 1614-1633 years. on the orders of Emperor Ferdinand II as the tomb of his family and himself. This is a fine example of Austrian Mannerism.
The narrow façade, decorated with numerous sculptures, consists of several levels, which creates an exceptionally harmonious composition. The interior of the mausoleum is made von Erlach.
