Turov settlement - a unique archaeological site, located in the town of Turov. In the years 1992-19993 archaeologist Peter F. Lysenko excavated in the territory of the Castle Hill and found a vast ancient city and the ruins of the temple, destroyed by an earthquake in 1230.

Even earlier cultural layers revealed that beneath the temple are the remains of a pagan temple. Found pit filled with charcoal, make it possible to make the assumption that about every idol of the pagan god keep the fire inextinguishable fires. In the middle of the temples was a statue of Perun, then - Horsa, Dazhdbog, Stribog, Mokos and Simargl, then was given a less important deities.

After joining Desk Christian church was built on a pagan temple, people soon forget the old gods. At the site of the temple were discovered ancient sarcophagi, printing of Metropolitan Kirill, Turovsky stone crosses, which, according to ancient legend ourselves sailed from Kiev Desk against the flow of the river. Before the revolution, Turov stone crosses were visible and considered miraculous, but the Soviet authorities did not come up with anything more intelligent than to flood the legendary floating crosses. In our time, it is unclear how they were back on the surface.

The foundation of the temple suggests that he had a very impressive dimensions: length 29, 3 m, a width of 17, 9 m.

Above the excavation pavilion constructed of metal and glass that protect the ancient ruins from the weather and creating comfortable conditions for tourists to explore the archaeological finds. You can go down the stairs and special bridges to see the ancient masonry foundation closer.
