Photo: Royal Palaces of Abomey
City Abomey - the ancient capital of the kingdom of Dahomey large. The main attraction of the city - the restored Royal Palace of the background and the museum inside. Most of the buildings originally built in 1645, was destroyed by fire in 1892, but remaining at home is very beautiful and capture the imagination of his age. Background Palace is uniquely decorated with bronze bas-reliefs, which have been declared by UNESCO as a universal heritage. The museum has an extensive exhibition showing the cult objects "voodoo" encrusted skull, items and period of Portuguese colonization of the traditional home of indigenous peoples (photography is strictly prohibited!).
