The picturesque town of Buti, which lies on the eastern slopes of Mount Pisano on the banks of the Rio Magno, according to some historians was founded in Roman times. Today, the municipality of Buti includes three villages - just Buti, La Croce and Cascine, connected by a road that winds along the Rio Magno.

Despite the modest size, the town boasts some interesting sights. For example, the ancient Villa Medici, Castel Tonini, standing over Buti, Romanesque church of San Francesco and the Church Ashensione, also known as Santa Maria delle Nevi. Until the last can be reached on the road Via dei Molini, on which once stood the water mills.

Walk on Buti necessarily lead tourists to the theater Francesco di Bartolo, named in honor of the first interpreter of the "Divine Comedy" by Dante. The theater was built in 1842 according to the architectural trends of the time.

The local economy is largely formed under the influence of the unique geographical location of Buti, which is surrounded by the mountains of Monti Pisani. It produces olive oil, chestnuts collect and produce a variety of wooden little things which, in fact, the town is famous. In the 19th century the inhabitants of Buti in large quantities produced chests, wooden boxes and wicker baskets, and in the 20th century began to develop the production of accessories. Today, handicrafts and agriculture are still the leading sectors of the economy.

The presence of numerous clubs and entertainment, excellent recreational opportunities and interesting cultural activities (primarily Palio di Sant Antonio in January) and a network of hiking and cycling trails in the surrounding woods make Buti an excellent place to relax throughout the year.
