Glen Castle - located in Tallinn in the area on the slope of Nõmme Mustamyagi. Around the castle a beautiful park. The landowner, Nikolai von Glen Park founded on this slope. The castle was built in 1886. For whatever reason, Baron traded fertile land behind the lake Harku Mustamyagi the slope, covered with pine forest. Such an act from the perspective of contemporary landlord von Glen seemed almost insane.
This hill has been popular since the mid-19th century as a place for picnics. Apparently, the Baron planned to found a city on this spot, because the project was a town hall, post office, several churches, the racetrack, and even mud baths.
The castle was designed by the owner of the territory. The landlord personally participated in the construction. Major work was carried out in Tallinn prison inmates. Von Glen sometimes for aesthetic development, played the clarinet prisoners excerpts from Wagner operas. The castle was built in the medieval Gothic style.
Opposite the ruins of the castle can be seen "Palm House", which Voves times Baron was semi-underground greenhouse. Unfortunately, the winter garden of Baron is in a sorry state. Not far from the ruins, situated on a hill four-sided obelisk, built in honor of the beloved horse Baron von Glen.
Nearby, among the high trees is a huge sculpture, called by the people "Glenovsky hell," though, according to the author, a giant sculpture represented the character of the Estonian Kalevipoeg. The sculpture, which we see today is a copy, the original was destroyed even during the First World War, its fragments can be seen in a number of copies of Agah.
Not far from the "Glenovskogo line" is another stone giant, popularly called "crocodile", which is supposed Baron had life dragon. Between these two statues can be seen groove similar to a wide ditch. Baron planned to do here River, the source of which would swamp Pyayaskyula. The river should flow through the park, waterfall and fall off a cliff. However, this venture could not be implemented because the sandy soil sucked up all the water, and the park was left with a dry riverbed.
There is construction of Baron, which survives to this day - a "lookout tower". As conceived by Baron tower had to be high enough that it could be seen the Finnish coast. Unfortunately, von Glen again failed: the foundation was too feeble, and the idea was abandoned. Today, this building is located observatory. Eccentric Baron von Glen did a lot more attractions in the park, which, to our regret, to the present time have not been preserved.
