Religious shrines are located at Via Appia Catacombs, which has paintings of the early Christians, to use these rooms for prayer meetings and burial of the dead.

Just behind the walls Avrelianskimi begins a series of graves located along the Appian Way; the most famous of them - the tomb of Cecilia Metella. In 1302, Pope Boniface VIII gave the tomb in the possession of his family Caetani, and they included it in his fortified castle. At the end of the XVI century, it has been made marble facing the tomb.

Catacombs of San Callisto is still little studied. They laid on four levels and the length of tunnel is about 20 km. Some rooms are decorated with frescoes.

Above the catacombs of San Sebastiano stands the church of the same name. Numerous wall paintings depict scenes of worship refectory Apostles Peter and Paul, whose remains were once sheltered somewhere in these catacombs.
