Tsandripshskaya basil is one of the most important early Christian monuments on the territory of Abkhazia. The Basilica is located in the resort village Tsandripsh, not far from Gagra, at the beach, at the mouth of the mountain river. Another name of the basilica - Hashupse.

According to historical documents, in Article VI-VII. Abazgskogo of the archbishopric of the department included such as: Tsandripshskaya, Pitsundskaya, Sebastopol, Anakopia, Tsebelda and Gyuenosskaya. The most famous cathedrals of that time were Tsandripshskaya basil and Dranda Cathedral.

Located in the center of Tsandripshskaya basilica was built around VI-VIII Art. Tsandripshkaya basilica built of stone rough handling. In IX-X Art. basil subjected to a thorough overhaul. All the architectural features of the temple indicate the high skill of architects. The building of the Basilica has an amazing acoustic properties - during the construction of the temple in its walls were walled jugs.

Up to the present day in Tsandripshskoy basilica is well preserved central apse with polusvodom southern wall with the adjoining longitudinal location and the western wall, where the entrance and the window above it. Originally, the basilica had a hardwood floor, but with time it was replaced by stone arches, as evidenced by further built rectangular pillars.
