Despite the fact that Novosokolniki region is young enough, he is a very rich part of the historical traditions. In the early years of the settlement of the construction of the church of the people did not even think. Once attacked Orthodox holidays, many residents went to nearby cemeteries which do not lacked in temples. Five miles from the village is the church of St. Nicholas in tan, Church of the Assumption in Oknyah, Znamensky temple in Minkin, Trinity, St. George's Church in Pupovichah and Trinity Church in Playah. Yet in Novosokolniki it became seen a significant increase in population, and the question of the construction of the temple still stood on the agenda.

For the construction of the temple was used bricks, and temple dome built of reinforced concrete. In the architectural part of the church is clearly visible at the time the familiar features of the modernist style: decoration and vignettes. Temple had in terms of the traditional form of the Byzantine equilateral cross.
The new church accommodates 700 people. Immediately on entering the church has a special board made of metal, which has been designated as the date of the inscription in 1912 - the time of construction. Not far from the church was built wooden bell tower, which had nine bells. The new temple is beautifully blended into the inherent architectural appearance of the village and became its landmark.
When St. Nicholas church worked parochial school in which at the beginning of the 20th century taught about 350 students. In addition to the core subjects, taught by priests of sacred history and the law of God in Zemsky school opened in one year to the temple. The building, designed for the County school size was significantly larger and more spacious inside than the temple. It Zemsky school building survived the Great Patriotic War, which was demolished in 2002 alone, as the building has strongly decayed.

After the revolution swept through Russia, the church was closed. Even a very long time a church building could not bring in proper form and adapt - it was what is called "difunctional", so it could not be used as a store or club.
The true cause of the death of St. Nicholas Church was terrible World War II, which did not spare anything in its path. To date, there is only one documentary chronicle, dating from January 1944, which captures the moment a full assault Novosokolniki Russian troops. Among tank attacks, episodes of bloody battle, you can see a panorama of the city with the ruins of once magnificent temple, and the dome of the church was knocked on its side. Judging from the damage, the retreating Germans blew up the temple - church wall collapsed on both sides, and the surviving dome just fell into the interior of the building. After the destruction of surviving bricks were used for outbuildings, but the dome is not useful - they were taken on a railway platform and dropped right outside Vitebsk park, from which no trace remains.
St. Nicholas Church was built anew in 1995, a year later, it was consecrated.
