Single-nave church of St. John the Baptist was conceived in 1510 benefactors Pardubice - Pernštejn lords who not only engaged in the reconstruction of the local castle, turning it into a cozy residence of the family, but do not forget about lying under the walls of the city. Due to Pernštejn in Pardubice not built one church. I was no exception and the church, consecrated in the name of John the Baptist.

The construction lasted for a long time: whether the funds did not have, or have other concerns. Finally, in 1563 the church was open to all comers. Some improvements interior continued for 7 years. Completing the construction of the church local architect Vaclav Vshetechka. He also created the church crypt, on which in 1788 put the bell tower.

For the new church was purchased land, which was part of the main cemetery Pardubice. Yet for a long time near the church were buried the dead. To this day in perfect condition survived some ancient tombs dating back to the XVI-XVII centuries. Now they have also become a local landmark and part of the local architectural and historical monuments.

Over time, the temple began to demand repair, which was produced in 1881. Then, in the new century, the church was again reconstructed. The last major intervention in its appearance occurred in the 1938-1940 years.

The interior of the church made in baroque style.
