Botanical Garden in Vladivostok - is one of the natural attractions of the city, is a favorite place of leisure, both locals and visitors.

The history of the botanical garden is directly connected with the history of Vladivostok. Trying to create a garden in the vicinity of the station, "Garden-City" was made in the mid 20s. Professor VM Savic. After World War II raised the issue of the establishment of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in the whole network of botanical gardens, covering all corners of the country. It was then that the Far Eastern base of the Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the local authorities of the Primorsky Territory, took the initiative in the creation of the Botanical Garden in Vladivostok. In April 1946, their initiative was supported. To this end, it was isolated plot of land of 176 hectares with well-preserved deciduous and black fir-broad-leaved forests.

In the 50-ies. The Botanical Garden was not considered even by this scientific institution. In 1966 he was appointed head of the garden LN Slizik. In 1970, in connection with the organization of the Far Eastern Scientific Center, USSR Vladivostok Botanical Garden awarded the status of an independent scientific institution. Already in 1990, the garden received the status of a research institute.

Today Vladivostok botanic garden - the only one in the Russian Far East, the Botanical Research Institute. The Institute carries out research in three fields: biological bases of introduction of plants, anthropogenic changes in flora and fauna protection of the gene pool of the Far East of the country.

Just a collection of the Botanical Gardens are about 3 thousand species of plants. The collection is preserved, studied and supported.
