Theatre of Nations, or the State Theater of Nations in Moscow, Petrovsky Pereulok. The brick building was built in the land of merchants Bakhrushins. Bakhrushins were known philanthropists, they gave ground and fifty thousand rubles for the construction of the theater building. The author of the project was the architect Chichagov. The building was built in a very short period of time, in just 120 days. Its equipped with the most modern technical equipment.

The theater was opened in 1885. It was the largest private theater in Russia: Russian Drama Theatre, known as theater Korsch. The theater lasted until the early thirties. In 1932 it was closed. The building opened a branch of the Moscow Art Theatre.

In 1987, the building was re-opened theater, which was called "Theatre of Friendship of Peoples." He was supposed to unite the theatrical space is a huge country - the Soviet Union. At the theater performances were held national theaters. He had to organize tours of national theaters across the country.

The current name "The State Theatre of Nations", the theater was in 1991. Today, the artistic director of the theater is a People's Artist of Russia Yevgeny Mironov.

Moscow Theatre of Nations introduced audiences to many theaters from around the world. His stage performances were theaters from India and Germany, Cuba and Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Romania, South Korea, USA, Croatia, Macedonia, China, Britain and France.

Theatre of Nations became the initiator of the Festival of Contemporary Dance (1993 and 1995). On its stage passed Benefit performances choreographer Boris Eifman, Yevgeny Panfilov, Boris Myagkova. With a solo program at the Théâtre Nations played opera star. The theater went solo performances such actors as Sergei Jurassic, Boris Levinson, Alexander Filippenko, Rimma Bykov, Yevgeny Simonov and others.

Theatre performances have repeatedly received prestigious theatrical award "Crystal Turandot" and "Golden Mask".
