Area Senado (Senate) is located in the heart of Macau. Ever since the days within the territory of the Portuguese colony of Macau, the area is considered a major center of social life of the population of the city, as well as a place for various events.

The area has a square shape, on its perimeter there are numerous fountains, the pedestrian area, benches and alleys with shrubs. Around the square is the historical part of the city with a variety of municipal buildings and landmarks.

On one side of Senado Square is located on municipal Bureau and Civil Affairs, which was called before the Senate. Opposite this building is the Holy House of Mercy, built in the 16th century. This is one of the oldest and still functioning institutions in China.

In the far corner of Senado Square is the church of San Domenico, built in the Baroque style. The church is famous for its historical museum located in the old turret, as well as the altar. On the third floor of this building is a museum of sculptures, paintings and liturgical objects.

Senado Square paved pavement stones in the form of a wavy pattern. In 1990 the area was reconstructed and re-laid pavement black and white plates. One of the features of the area - very European feel. Only the abundance of Chinese can be understood that this refers to the urban landscape of the Chinese city.

Around the square there are many restaurants with local cuisine and shopping. During the holidays, such as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, with Senado Square launched numerous fireworks and traditional dances are organized with the dragon and lion.
