At this time, parts of the ships started collecting funds for the needs of the construction of the monument. The idea of ​​building a monument was such that it could be seen from afar.

In mid-1945 there was the idea of ​​a memorial lighthouse on the island of Greasy, which in addition to the aesthetic side, could point the way to sail ships and vessels. Gradually, the erection of the monument was raised to 5 million rubles, but in this case prevented the dire living conditions prevailing in the Navy, for which reason the People's Commissar of the Navy of Russia decided to pay a sum of money collected for the needs of capital construction.

Throughout the 1950s, the question of erecting a monument to BP was again raised. It is also supposed to be installed on the island of the sebaceous. As you progress the detailed design plan for the monument was decided to install a monument in the city of Severomorsk - the capital of the Northern Fleet, because this city is visited by almost all the sailors who come to serve in the Navy.

Date of opening of the monument - 10 June 1973 - coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Navy, for which reason the opening ceremony of the new majestic monument.
