Approximately 48 kilometers north of Paphos town can be found one of the romantic places themselves Cyprus - Baths of Aphrodite. It is a magical place situated in the territory of the protected Akamas Peninsula.

An ancient legend says that it was there that loved to take water treatments goddess of love, youth and beauty Aphrodite once settled on the island. It was also a meeting place for the beautiful goddess with her lover Adonis. But Artemis, learning about the secret relationship between two lovers, decided to kill Adonis. Locals say that the blood of the murdered young man turned into a beautiful rose and tears of Aphrodite rose anemones. Goddess so grieved about his beloved, Zeus took pity on her and decided that Adonis will come back every year for eight months for his beloved, and will spend four months in the underworld. This is what has become a symbol of the seasons - decay and rebirth of nature in Cyprus.

Bathing is a charming place, surrounded by dense thickets. Under the canopy of a natural limestone rock is a small semicircular pond, which grows on the banks of the old fig tree. It is believed that bathing in the pond gives the youth and helps preserve the beauty.

Baths of Aphrodite is not far from the sea with a small pebble beach and crystal clear water. In addition, near the baths it is an outdoor deck overlooking magnificent views of the sea and surroundings. Also there you can walk along one of two paths, named in honor of Aphrodite and Adonis.
