Frederiksborg Palace - one of the majestic castle, located in Hilerёd. The history of the construction of the castle began in 1560 on the orders of King Frederick II, the final construction work was completed in 1625 when King Christian IV.
The entire palace complex built in the style of the Renaissance (the copper roof with spiers, wide gables, decorative art decoration made of sandstone) on three islands. These small three islands connected by bridges and combined a beautiful garden in the Baroque style.
The building of the palace consists of three parts: the royal wing, the wing and the wing of the chapel of the princess. On average, the island housed buildings intended for office and the residence of the lord. In the center of the courtyard there is a beautiful fountain, decorated with silver sculptures. The author of the fountain was a famous Dutch sculptor Adrian de Vries.
Frederiksborg Palace belonged to the royal family of more than two hundred years. Now the castle houses the Museum of National History. It was opened to visitors after restoration of the building in 1882. Visitors are presented to view collections of furniture, porcelain, decorations and medals, silverware, paintings, beautiful gallery of portraits of XVI-XIX centuries. (depicted Danish monarchs, Vitus Bering, Andersen, Catherine II, Mary Stuart). The royal wing on the third floor of an exhibition of paintings by contemporary artists. Also open to the public chapel, large and small Knights 'Hall Knights' Hall.
