Mount Ai-Petri is one of the sights of the Crimea. Name mountains in Greek means "Saint Peter". This name is associated with the Greek monastery of St. Peter, who was in the Middle Ages on the Ai-Petri plateau.

The height of Ai-Petri - 1234 meters above sea level. In the Middle Ages, people lived on the northern slopes of the mountain. On the plateau found many Paleolithic tools made of silicon (scrapers, knives), testified about hunting primitive people.

After the Turkish conquest in the late 15th century, deserted mountain plateaus and served only pasture for cattle. Nowadays it is part of the Crimean Nature Reserve. More settlements were not here, people chose a more comfortable climate for life. In 1895, at the top there is a weather station, which was founded a branch of the Pulkovo Observatory of the physical.

The length of the cable car was 3, 5 kilometers. Between stations Sosnovy Bor and Ai-Petri is not supporting towers, this distance is about two kilometers. This cable car span without support is considered the longest in Europe.

At Ai-Petri held interesting excursions. Tourists usually visit the Ai-Petri meridian - stone globe with accurate survey data, observation platform on the cliff Szyszko, meteorological station, mountain Bedene-Kyr, a cave Three-eye, equipped for excursions. On the slope of a highway from Yalta on the Ai-Petri can be seen "drunk" pine grove - century wood from a pine Crimean, broken by a landslide.

There are excellent conditions for active tourism, riding on horses and camels, mountain biking, jeep tours, paragliding, shooting military adventure and science fiction films.
