Urbis - a large modern exhibition center in Manchester. It was opened in June 2002 as part of the reconstruction Bourse (Millennium Quarter). The building has seven floors. Visit the exhibition begins at the top, where the tourists climb by elevator. To maintain a comfortable temperature in a building used by the most advanced technologies: evaporative cooling system in the summer and retain heat in the winter.

Originally conceived as Urbis museum about the life of the city, the exhibition is located on five floors, and two more were placed under various exhibitions and changing exhibitions. But the exhibition turned out to be unattractive to tourists, attendance was extremely low, and the museum has become a burden for the city. In 2004 it was decided to change the status of the museum Urbis and it turned into an exhibition center dedicated to British pop culture, with the emphasis remains on the events in Manchester. The museum canceled the entry fee and the number of tourists began to grow.

In 2010, Urbis was closed to visitors. From the town of Preston in Lancashire it was moved here Football Museum. The museum reopened in July 2012.
