Flavian Amphitheatre, located in the town of Pozzuoli in the Italian region of Campania - the third largest Roman amphitheater in Italy. Zoom in him only the Roman Colosseum and the amphitheater of Capua. Presumably, the Flavian Amphitheatre was designed by the same architects who worked on the Coliseum. Its construction began during the reign of Emperor Vespasian and was completed by his son, Emperor Titus. Arena amphitheater could hold up to 20 thousand spectators. It was here in 305, the year were executed holy Puncture, who later became the patron saint of Pozzuoli, and San Gennaro - Patron of Naples.

The interior of Flavian Amphitheatre reached our days almost intact, and today you can see fragments of tools, by which cells are lifted up at the arena. Dimensions amphitheater hit so far - 147 by 117 meters (arena was equal to 72h42 meters).

Flavian Amphitheatre was the second Roman amphitheater, built in Pozzuoli. The first one was smaller (130h95 meters) and elders. It was built not far from the intersection of roads leading to Naples, Capua and Kumu. After the eruption of the volcano Solfatara amphitheater she appeared filled with ashes and was abandoned, and in the Middle Ages with its outer walls of marble slabs were removed. In 1839-45 and 1880-82-m-m respectively are carried out archaeological excavations, but, unfortunately, a little later, the amphitheater was almost completely destroyed during the construction of the railway line Rome - Naples. Preserved only a dozen arches.
