Franciscan Monastery is located in the south of the island of Hvar, in the bay of crisis. Cove crisis - rather quiet and cozy place here grow gorgeous gardens, and above them rises the belfry.

The monastery was built in 1461-1471 gg., And the bell tower was added a noble family of hereditary masons from Korcula in the XVI century. Currently on display in the halls of the monastery gathered in a long time, old coins, books, valuable archival documents, charts, etc. The most interesting exhibit is the Ptolemy atlas published in 1524.

Also in a monastery there is a picture gallery, which affects the collection of works by the old masters. Here is "The Last Supper" by the famous Venetian master Palma del Vecchio. Once the painting belonged to the famous Venetian Matteo Ingoli, but moved to the monastery collection.

In the church of the Virgin Mary, which is located on the territory of the monastery, survived three folding, authored by Francesco de Santacroce, they were created in 1583. Also exhibited at the altar of the Crucifixion created by Leonardo Bassano. Under the altar of the church is located the burial Hannibal Lukic. Portal of the church is decorated with a Renaissance relief depicting the Madonna and Child. The image created by Nikola Florentines in 1470 and it is interesting that the inlaid with precious stones.

Many tourists come to see the famous Renaissance cloister of the monastery. Special attention should be growing in the monastery courtyard cypress. Local old-timers say that its age exceeds 300 years.
