Porta Ticinese, formerly known as Porta Cicco and Porta Marengo - former city gates of Milan. Facing south-west, Porta Ticinese were built along the walls with the Spanish in the 16th century, but in the future the original construction was demolished and re-built until the early 19th century. Porta Ticinese name used to refer to both the gate and the surrounding areas, part of the administrative area 6. It is interesting that in this area there are some medieval gate of the same name. Porta Ticinese today - one of the attractions of Milan and a popular tourist attraction.

Porta Ticinese name literally means "Gateway to Ticino" - refers to the Ticino River, which crosses the Po Valley to the south-west of Milan. The old name of the gate - Porta Cicco - were in vogue at the time of Spanish rule in Milan in the 16th century (the Spanish word distorted "Chica" - small), and the name of Porta Marengo was common in the era of Napoleon.

As mentioned above, the original gates of the 16th century were demolished and in their place at the beginning of the 19th century erected new - was designed by the architect Luigi Kanola them in the neoclassical style. Today, they are massive columns, topped tympanum, and are considered one of the outstanding examples of neoclassical architecture in Milan.
