St. Stanislaus and Wenceslas - Gothic church, located in the Polish town of Swidnica. The church is one of the most important monuments in the city and the largest church in Lower Silesia. The tower height of 103 meters is considered to be the fifth largest in Poland.

The church was built in the fourteenth century on the orders of Prince Bolek II Small after the previous wooden church burned down. Legend has it that the first stone of the new church laid the prince in 1330.

The church was built in the late Gothic style, from the western facade which stands a tall tower. Three-nave basilica is decorated with sculptures of sandstone. From the outside of the portal are visible symbols of the four evangelists - Northern Eagle (John), the lion (Mark), bull (Luke) and the angel (Matthew).

The interior of the impressive height of the central nave, which rises to 25 meters. In different periods of the church it was built six chapels. The original Gothic interior was destroyed by fire in 1532.

With 1644 on 1776 the church belonged to the Jesuits who rebuilt it in the Baroque style. Most of the statues and altars were made by Jan Riedel. The main altar - his greatest work, the main stage, depicting the Virgin and Child surrounded by saints. Among the surviving elements of the medieval most valuable is a Gothic polyptych in 1492 in honor of the Dormition of the Mother of God.

After the secularization of the church, with the consent of the Prussian government turned into a granary. Restored in 1893-1895 years the church has lost many of its original architectural features.

In March 2004, according to the decree of Pope John Paul II, the Church of St. Stanislaus and Wenceslas became the cathedral of the diocese.
