Museum of Fine Arts named after MA Vrubel in Omsk - is the largest art collection in the territory of Siberia, including the extensive collection of Russian and foreign art from ancient times to the present.

Omsk Museum was founded in December 1924 .. At that time, the former governor-general's palace, thanks to the initiative of the first director of the museum Melёhina FV, the opening of the art gallery at the West Siberian Regional Museum. The gallery was established on the basis of the delivered items from the disbanded Moscow Rumyantsev Museum. In subsequent years, a collection of regularly updated with new products. FV Melёhin personally traveled to Leningrad and Moscow for the selection of the best works of all types and genres.

From 1950 to 1955 the collection of the Omsk Museum of Fine Arts have increased significantly, particularly affected the work of Soviet artists. In 1955 and in 1962 from the funds of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the museum has been transferred more than 100 works of sculpture, painting, drawing and crafts. In 1995, the museum exhibited only in Siberia paintings of Vrubel - Triptych "Flowers", was given the name of the famous Russian artist.

Today the museum of Vrubel presents the largest collection in Siberia. In total, the museum has about 26 thousand items. The museum is housed in two buildings: governor-general's palace, built in 1862 by the architect FF Wagner and urban commercial building, erected in 1914 according to the project designed by architect AD Kryachkova (today a museum housing Vrubel).
