This monument is probably the most original of all the monuments erected in Kiev. The monument is a hefty toad of bronze, with the front legs of the animal greedily piled on top of the coin.

The author of this unusual sculpture of a sculptor Oleg Pinchuk, with the author deliberately abandoned the city proposed compensation to him, citing the fact that he created a gift to the city and its residents. But the statue cost him and helped him to a friend in a rather big sum - $ 180,000. From Kiev wanted only one thing - to find a place where it would be possible to put this gift. The problem is complicated by the fact that the monument is very Toad marker - only one base has an area of ​​4 square meters, and the total weight of the attractions is six tons.

The author proposed to install its creation in Groin Park, and not just so. The fact is that here, near the Philharmonic, formerly occupied a place of worship, which is called - Toad. It was a cozy dance floor (later - disco), which was virtually closed on all sides by trees, making it an incredibly popular with constantly persecuted by the authorities of Kiev mods. The issue of placing the monument was so acute that even had to create a commission on this matter. In the end, it was decided to open the monument near the Museum of Water, which was done at the celebration of the Day of Kyiv.

Few visitors know that the monument Toad is one feature that did not have its rivals, established in other cities. Anyone can throw a coin into a toad, and she wore it well-being. The most fortunate can get a whole heap of coins thrown into a toad predecessors (to this end, in the middle made a special bucket, turn when you reach a certain weight).
