Abisko - a national park in Sweden, located in the province of Lapland near the Norwegian border, and belongs to the municipality of Kiruna, the northernmost and largest municipality in Sweden. Park begins from the shores of Torneträsk, one of the largest lakes in Sweden, where the village of Abisko, and extends for 15 kilometers to the southwest. Abisko National Park is located about 195 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, and its total area is 77 square meters. km. The park was created in 1909, the year of adoption of the first Swedish law on nature protection.

The main objectives that were pursued to create Abisko National Park is, of course, the preservation in the territory of northern Scandinavian nature in its original form, and use it for research. As it turned out, this area is of great interest to scientists, so in 1903 there was built a research station Abisko, and in 1935 it was merged with the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

National Park as well, according to the plans of its founders, was to become a popular tourist destination. It originates 425-kilometer-long Kungsleden trail, which crosses the park and goes further south, ending in Hemavan. National Park is popular for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, as well as among fans of other winter sports. The park has all the necessary amenities for tourists. Due to the fact that Abisko is located near the Arctic Circle, in the summer, tourists can enjoy the midnight sun, while in winter the park is an ideal place to observe the northern lights.
