Cathedral of St. Nicholas is located in Alicante in the square named after the abbot Penalvy. The cathedral was built on the site of the destroyed mosque in the period between 1616 and 1662 GG This is a fairly strict and restrained appearance building, built in the late Renaissance style with elements of the early Baroque. The cathedral was built and named in honor of St. Nicholas is the patron saint of Alicante.

In terms of the building of the Cathedral is in the shape of a Latin cross with alternating buttresses and chapels. The facade is made under the project and under the supervision of architect Juan de Herrera. Inside the church is a beautiful chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, recognized as one of the best examples of Spanish Baroque. The same style is created and the chapel of St. Nicholas, with its holy way, located in the center of the apse of the work of Juan de Villanueva.

The interior space of the church, affecting the size and spaciousness, the dome crowning the incredible height of 45 meters. Finishing the interior is replete with marble and tiles of different colors.

Special attention is given a magnificent gilded altar, made by Nicolas Borras in 1574 and enclosed a beautiful wrought-iron openwork lattices.
