Adelaide Botanic Gardens - these are three separate projects: the historical botanical garden in the city center, the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden and Botanical Garden Vittunga (Wittunga).

The main botanical garden (of approx. 34 hectares) was founded in 1857 where you can see plants from around the world, as well as a few trees planted before last century! The garden was created and is supported by very favorable for plant subtropical climate (average temperature 28 degrees). And the abundance of sunny days allows you to live plants from different regions of the earth: and those who love the moisture, and the fact that settle in the mountains, plains and even in the desert. By the way, in the garden you can see the entire Russian birch grove.

The first glass greenhouse was built in the Botanical Garden specifically for the unique Victorian water lilies growing in 1868. Its flowering process even hit the front pages of local newspapers!

The second largest greenhouse - "Palm House" - was built in 1877 Orangerie is notable not only an extensive collection of Madagascan plants savannah, but also for its architecture in the Victorian style.

In 1996, the Botanical Garden was inaugurated National Rose Test Garden - the first in Australia garden, where roses are tested for suitability for the Australian climate. Rose, by the way, is amazing - noisette roses, roses bourbon, tea, Dog rose and others.

In addition, you can visit the botanical garden Mediterranean garden of aquatic plants, admire the blooming lotuses and learn about the history of crop in the local museum. Second Botanical Garden is located half an hour from the center of Adelaide, on the eastern slope of Mount Lofty. Finally, the third Vittunga botanical garden open to the public in 1975, is a collection of plants from Australia and South Africa.
