Castle located on the outskirts Schlaining Stadtschlaining Burgenland. Originally a fortress was located on the trade route that led from north to south through Bernstein. The castle was first mentioned in letopisyah1271 year. Its current name was only a castle in 1786, after several phonetic transformations original name Zloynuk.
Presumably, the first owners of the castle was the dynasty background Yak. In 1271 the fortress was already in possession of background Gyussinger that lishis it in 1327 against King Robert I of Anjou. After their victory, the Hungarian king gave the castle old Kanitszay which remained owners until 1371 Schlaining. In 1397, the castle passed in order Tompeka George and his brother Johann. The brothers owned the castle for a long time, until 1445, when Emperor Frederick III, conquered lands Schlaining, passed Castle Andreas Baumkirhe. The new owner bought the 30 surrounding villages, thus greatly expanding ownership.
In the mid-16th century, King Ferdinand gave the castle Schlaining dynasty Batthyány. The fortress was in the hands of the family for many years. The last of the Batthyány was the Prime Minister of Hungary, Ludwig Batthyány. After his execution in 1849, the castle became the property of the Government of Hungary.
In 1980 the castle was handed over to the Austrian federal state of Burgenland, namely the center of the Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. The castle Schlaining located headquarters center began organizing an international conference, and in 2000 opened the European Museum of the World. The museum has an exhibition devoted to the history of wars and armed conflicts. His motto Museum chose the words of Alfred Nobel "If you want peace, you have to prepare it." The exposition is located on two floors.
