Lake Vrana - the largest lake in Croatia, it is geographically closest to the coast of the Adriatic Sea. From Biograd na Moru it separates only four kilometers to the east, and from Vodice - ten kilometers to the northwest. As a result, the western part of the lake belongs to the Zadar County, and the east - to the Sibenik-Knin.

The total area of ​​Lake Vrana is nearly 31 square meters. km, and its length is about 14 kilometers and a width of a little more than two kilometers. The greatest depth of the lake - 4 meters. According to its origin Vranskojezero - is flooded caverns.

The peculiarity of the lake is considered to be its extremely close proximity to the Adriatic Sea: the isthmus separates them with a width of one kilometer from half to half. On it just passes the Adriatic highway. Near the northern tip of Lake Vrana on this isthmus situated village Pakostane. Lake Vrana is filled with fish, it arrives build their nests a large number of wild birds, among which the most important is the colony of herons, which are carefully guarded by ornithologists.
