Basilica of St. John is part of the monastery complex of St. John the Divine, which is located in Biograd. A former Benedictine monastery today is a ruin. At the same time, it was one of the most interesting architectural structures, reminiscent of the past of Biograd.

The monastery complex was built around 1060 during the reign of King Peter of Croatia Krešimir IV. It is noteworthy that the heyday of the power of the kingdom came just for this period.
