Olympic Sports Museum was opened on March 21, 2007, after in 2005 his project was approved by the city council of Barcelona. The museum is located on the hill of Montjuic, to the Olympic Stadium.

The museum exhibition revealing the history of the sport since the days of ancient Greece, where the Olympic Games were born, and to this day. The exhibition presents the theme of sports competitions, sports recreation, sports for the disabled. It demonstrates the importance of sport and its influence on the formation of values, education, physical and cultural growth.

Each of the four rooms of the museum reveals his subjects, whom he is devoted. In the first room demonstrates the important sporting events, moments dedicated significant people in the sport. The second hall reveals the history of the Olympic Games held in Barcelona in 1992. The third room is devoted to sports records and outstanding victories. Here there are such exhibits as Miguel Induraina bicycle, motorcycle Angel Nieto and Alex Krivel, Formula 1 race car Mickey Hakkinen and many others.

The fourth room is devoted to the time when the International Olympic Committee was headed barselonets Juan Antonio Samaranch. Here are the things belonging to it, as well as a large number of medals, torches, paintings, photographs, badges, sports trophies, posters and publications on sports subjects. All of this was presented to the Museum by Samaranch. In 2010, the museum was renamed the Olympic Sports Museum of Juan Antonio Samaranch. This person has made an enormous contribution to the development of the Olympic Movement. For his outstanding achievements in sport and the contribution to the Olympic movement Samaranch awarded the King of Spain in 1991, the title of Marquis.
