In the cozy town of Baeza, located in the heart of Andalusia, is a lot of interesting historical and cultural places to visit. Despite its small size, it has its own in Baeza Cathedral. The Cathedral, dedicated to the Holy Mother of God Christmas is one of the oldest and most interesting buildings in the city. According to the tradition that existed in Spain, the cathedral was built on the site of the old city mosque and consecrated in 1147 by order of King Alfonso VII for Christian worship. In 1227 Baeza was conquered by Christians, and the church was dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin. In 1931 the Cathedral Baeza was given the status of a national architectural and historical monument.

During its long history the cathedral was rebuilt several times, and it has left its mark on the appearance of the building. Cathedral, which we can see today, made primarily in the Renaissance style, but his appearance also present features peculiar architectural styles such as Gothic, Mudejar and Plateresque. The oldest part of the building is the bell tower, a converted minaret towers, the construction of which belongs to the 11th century. In the 16th century under the patronage of the bishop Francisco Delgado Lopez, the building was completely rebuilt in the Renaissance style designed by Andres de Vandelvira and after his death continued reconstruction of the building, Christopher Perez. The decoration of the church was involved in the famous 16th century architect and sculptor Diego Siloam.
