Museum of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Aosta keeps its centuries-old walls of priceless works of art masters of Val d'Aosta 13-18 centuries. In the historical center of the main square Piazza Emile Shan can see two ancient bell tower belonging to the Cathedral. Archaeological excavations conducted here in the 20th century made it possible to restore the various phases of construction of the cathedral, the first building which was built back in the middle of the 4th century. We have survived the crypt of the 11th-century cloister of the 15th century.

The museum, connected with a covered gallery, is of special interest for visitors to the cathedral because of its priceless collection .  Here you can see an ivory diptych of work An'ichi shot from the image of the emperor Honorio, fragments of monumental marble gravestones of the 15th century work of Stefano Mossettatsa made for Odger Morizeta, Challand Francesco and Tommaso II of Savoy, gold jewelry and other items .  Here are stored gold gothic decorations and products, was working on a Flemish Master Jean de Maline, including an absolute masterpiece - a huge reliquary of San Grato, created by William de locale and decorated Maline, an interesting cross from the crystal, made in the 14th century in the commune Remes, a bust of St. John the Baptist, elegantly decorated with incense sticks for religious ceremonies and prayer, belonging to various bishops .  Noteworthy is a series of old Gothic wooden sculptures and crucifixes 13-14 centuries .  And one of the most valuable pieces in the museum is the oval agate cameo of the 1st century AD . e .
