In the central part of the city of Syzran, in the historic building of the late nineteenth century, it is the city museum. A two-storey house with a store previously owned merchant Ledneva. Having survived a devastating fire in 1906, the building has preserved historic value and today is considered an architectural monument.

History Local History Museum began in 1923, with agricultural exhibition organized by local historian amateur N.V.Gurevym. In two years, the museum has become a repository of the edge of a number of cultural values. In 1924 it was formed several collections: rare books, icons, historic photographs, coins, and archaeological finds. In 1925, the museum received the collection of unique items from the ruined manors: Count Orlov-Davydov (p. Usolye) Princes Gagarin (p. Zaborovka) and the estate of the village Gubino Nasakin. And if at the end of the twentieth century, the museum occupies only the first floor of the mansion of the merchant, it is today the building is fully occupied showcases, information stands, plasma TVs and historical exhibits. From 1960-1990,. for the regional museum premises were identified Kremlin's Spassky Tower and the city's exhibition hall (the house of the merchant M.V.Chernuhina).

Near the entrance to the museum housed the barrels of guns of the seventeenth century with historical dents. Wheels and carriage were cast at Syzran plant engineering and master painted the gun in accordance with the requirement of the time.
