Vyborg Castle was founded in 1293 by the Swedish crusader Torgils Knutsson after repeatedly rebuilt, but in general almost did not change its appearance. The castle is located on an island which can be reached on foot - from the bridge across the bay there is the descent directly to the castle gate. In the area of the castle is small and has no walls - instead of them around the perimeter of the castle built strong residential and commercial buildings with corner towers, built of boulders.

Inside the castle there are three small patio (lower, upper and Blacksmith) and narrow, arched, paved with cobblestones, street rises to the top. The lower part of the castle, all built of dark stones, and above all the high rise buildings grand white tower bishop Olaf, a true symbol of Vyborg - the tower can be seen from anywhere in the city.

Olaf's Tower, a huge cube-shaped base and the hexagonal upper part was built in the XIII century, is built several times and had a height of over 80 meters, but after a fire in the XVIII century was heavily rebuilt, and now its height of 45 meters. On the tower you can climb and admire the panorama of the old Vyborg and the Gulf with endless wooded skerries.

At the foot of the tower is forging a tiny courtyard, from which you can get to the National History Museum and the historical-reenactment center where you can put on a suit of armor, pick up a spear or sword and shield and take pictures - for little money.
