Among the many churches in Vienna special attention certainly deserves the Church of Our Lady Victorious (Maria vom-Ridge) - Roman Catholic parish church, located on the street near the Mariahilfer rudolfsheim-fünfhaus.

Church of Our Lady of Victory was built by the famous Austrian-German architect Friedrich von Schmidt, author of the famous Vienna City Hall. The temple project was developed in the late 50s, the construction began in 1868 and lasted seven years.

The church was erected in the popular in those days architectural style known as "historicism" or "eclectic" feature is the harmonious combination of several different styles (Neo-Gothic, Neo-Baroque, neo-Renaissance, etc.). It is impressive and very original structure with a huge dome, two massive towers and many small towers, which give the building a certain grandiosity. In general, in the appearance of the church is dominated by Neo-Gothic, while the internal decoration is very reminiscent of neo-Byzantine style. The height of the temple with the dome is 68 m.

The name of the church was named after a famous ancient icons depicting scenes of Christ, through which, according to legend, the Catholics were victorious in the Battle of White Mountain (one of the most important episodes of the Thirty Years War) near Prague in November 1620. A copy of the icon, you can see to the right of the altar of the temple. The original is kept in the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria in Rome.

Church of Our Lady of Victory is an important architectural monument and is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Vienna.
