Located in Toledo Franciscan monastery of San Juan de los Reyes is one of the main attractions of the city and one of its most majestic and beautiful buildings. This monastery was founded by King Ferdinand of Aragon and Queen Isabella of Castile after the birth of their child, as well as to commemorate the victory over the forces of the Portuguese at the Battle of Toro.

Construction of the monastery was started by the architect Juan Guasa in 1477 and lasted for several decades. The main part of the building was completed in 1506. The main entrance to the building of the monastery, made by the famous architect Alonso Kovarrubiusa, was built in 1553. According to the original project it was assumed that the monastery will be the royal burial place. But then it happened that Isabella and Ferdinand were buried in Granada liberated them.

Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes is an example of architecture of the Gothic period with elements characteristic of Mudejar style. The church plan has the shape of a Latin cross. The interior decoration of the building is striking splendor and decoration. The walls are decorated with images of eagles and coats of arms of the royal dynasty, located in the upper gallery, where vaulted ceilings decorated with magnificent patterns in the Arab style. A real work of art is the main altar, created in the 16th century by the sculptor Felipe Bigarni and decorated with scenes of Christ's Passion and Resurrection of Christ, painted by Francisco de Komontesom. Of particular note is the magnificent cloister, made in 1504 and recognized as a true masterpiece of late Gothic architecture of the period.
